Katie and I decided to start a blog to keep friends and family updated, since we'll be leaving them behind in 17 short days. Maybe it would be a good start to explain a little of why we are going to Creston, British Columbia, Canada, of all places.
As I (Katie) walk up the steps of the first apartment we have had as a married couple, everything seems so surreal to me. For months we have been counting down the days, watching the numbers get smaller and smaller, but what happens when we get to zero remains a mystery to me. Last year Jerri started to form the idea of fulfilling his dreams of Kung Fu in this small British Columbia village. I, so happy to have won the heart of an adventurer, followed timidly and yet closely behind. Many days we fantasized, prayed, and colored out our thoughts of Creston, until one day I woke up realizing the dream had now also become my own. I still tear up at the thought that our dear Lord has placed both of our heart's desire in the same mountainous town. I am setting off to learn the art of herbalism and Jerri the art of self discipline, a great adventure.
We leave our home not so sure of what lies on the road ahead, not even positive that we are prepared for the journey as we best could be. But we trust Jesus is awaiting us in Creston, whatever form He may be in. Therefore we make the decision to only walk up the steps of our apartment for a few more weeks, and when the countdown commences we step out in faith.

ReplyDeleteAnd, I will follow your story. Self discipline is for... Never mind. (Get it?)
